Hava Light

The beautiful thing about light is that it propagates itself. When you hold a bright, beautiful light, you can share it with others, who will then pass it on themselves. That's the idea behind The Light Foundation, founded and led by Matt Light and his wife Susie. As an NFL legend and Super Bowl Champion as part of the Patriots, Light has chosen to leverage his name and fame to spread light. Recently, the Light Foundation passed a "candle" on to Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA).

A few words are in order about HAVA! We've discussed this wonderful charity before, but if you're new to it, HAVA's mission is to help disabled military veterans adjust to civilian life after serving our country. They do this with disability-accessible range days, hunts and fishing expeditions. The participants are universal in their plaudits: These outdoor adventures provide a camaraderie and a healing that's matched by little else.

The Light family's foundation is a vision of investing in our future, helping young people develop the skills, values and mindset they need to create a meaningful and productive future. Just in the way HAVA supports vets with outdoor adventures, The Light Foundation seeks to “take young people out of their everyday environments and provide them with unique opportunities that ignite their passion, purpose and motivation to succeed.” Whether they're military vets or youth, both charities are dedicated to helping people have more productive and enjoyable lives.

This catches us up to today! The Light Foundation recently conducted two fundraisers called "The Matt Light Celebrity Shootout" and "Corporate Training Day," and with the money raised, they donated $50,000 to HAVA. HAVA’s Chris Fleming, who participated in both days of the event, says, "Seeing first-hand what the Light Foundation does for our Nation's youth is nothing short of awesome. The hard work we have seen from Matt on the NFL Football field translates to his hard work in youth program so desperately needed today. HAVA is grateful for the support of Matt and the Light Foundation."
