This year, the Great American Outdoor Show was a hit with kids! Not only was the Eddie Eagle Kid Zone packed, it was Eddie Eagle’s 30th birthday, representing the fact that the Eddie Eagle GunSafe® program has been educating kids for three decades.

The popularity of the Kid Zone has risen over the years, and this year, there were more prizes and activities than ever before. More than 1,600 families went home with the Eddie Eagle and the Wing Team DVD, a firearm safety instruction video for children emphasizing Eddie’s message of STOP! Don’t Touch. Run Away. Tell a Grown Up. if they ever come across a gun.

Not only were the videos and prizes available, but there were other activities, such as basketball, wildlife identification and arts and crafts. Children were also able to leave the Kid Zone with basketballs, fidget spinners and stuffed animals commemorating Eddie Eagle.

The biggest aspect of the Kid Zone was the various celebrations held to wish Eddie Eagle a happy birthday. The birthday bash celebrations gave out cupcakes for those in attendance, and gave the kids the chance to get their pictures taken with Eddie himself!

With so many activities going on in the Kid Zone and with the Eddie Eagle program, children who went to the Great American Outdoor Show definitely weren’t disappointed...and left with a better understanding of gun safety as a result.
