Q: What's the most commonly heard word at NRA Headquarters?
A: "Huh?"

It's a joke we like to tell each other here at the NRA, but we frequently have to tell it pretty loudly. Shooting is our passion, but unfortunately many of us have sacrificed our hearing to that passion. It may be too late for some of us, but it isn't for you or your family. Whether you're headed to the range for some casual plinking or striking out into the field to go hunting, it's critical to protect yourself from the report of gunfire. Yes, even in the outdoors; yes, even when you're using small calibers; yes, even when you're only planning on firing a few times. So for those of you who don't start every sentence with "What?" yet, this year's SHOT Show brought great news from the folks at SportEAR: The new Ghost Stryke earplugs.

You may be familiar with SportEAR as a premium manufacturer of custom-molded earplugs--and that's still their wheelhouse--but the custom process can be a bit pricey for some pocketbooks ($1,000 and up). Of course, your hearing is priceless, but the folks at SportEAR want to ensure that your continued ability to hear the above joke is available to all. The $399 Ghost Stryke reduces sounds by 30 decibels, with the added benefit of being extremely comfortable. Explains media representative Greg Duncan, "They're silicone-tipped for comfort, and they just kind of click right into your ear."

This is great news for shooters who enjoy AR-15 style rifles, which require that you get a good, high cheekweld on the gun's stock. It's also great for female shooters, as our relatively long necks often require that we tuck our faces further down onto a gun's stock to see well through the sights or optic. (Sadly, earmuffs can sometimes make this difficult.)

The Ghost Stryke is a universal fit, so they don't have to be custom made, which is how SportEAR can make them so affordable. Additionally, not only do they protect against loud noises, they also enhance quiet ones...perfect for turkey and deer hunters.

The Ghost Stryke earplugs are available to consumers now! Visit the website to learn more.
