It has only been a few months since Remington, known affectionately among firearms enthusiasts as "Big Green," began re-organizing under its new ownership. In those few months, however, Remington has once again proven that its dedication to the next generation of shooters is matched only by its long and proud history. Today, Big Green pledged their support to the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance (YSSA) to help provide shooting equipment for youth programs across the country.

The YSSA is a non-profit organization that supports the shooting sports industry and youth shooting sports by providing products for youth programs. It is the only program of its kind that loans and donates shooting equipment to youth programs across the country. To date, YSSA has loaned more than $1.6 million dollars' worth of equipment to youth shooting sports programs, and benefited more than 95,000 junior shooters. Of course, this model depends on gun and shooting-gear manufacturers to pitch in with equipment to donate or loan. That's where Big Green comes in.

“Many people, including youth, have turned to the outdoors and shooting sports activities to be socially distant during these times,” says Joel Hodgdon, marketing director for Remington Ammunition. “The YSSA assists youth development programs across the country by providing these new entrants with dependable, safe equipment, all the while sustaining the growth of introductory shooting sports programs. We are happy to be a part of this successful and important program.”

It's a good thing that Remington is back to manufacturing right now! According to Cyndi Flannigan, YSSA executive director, requests for equipment for 2021 are flooding in. "We anticipate a break-out year," she warns, "so make sure you contact us for equipment." (We'll have more on how to do that momentarily.)

“Having Remington as an industry partner is extremely exciting for us at the YSSA,” says Flannigan. “It’s critical for the future of shooting sports that kids have the opportunity to learn these skills in a safe, positive and fun way. We are adamant and committed in our drive to provide quality equipment to support these programs.”
