The National Rifle Association awarded a total of $16,000 in college scholarships to select attendees of the 2014 Youth Education Summit (Y.E.S.), the seven-day expenses paid educational experience in Washington, D.C. for rising high school juniors and seniors.

Held June 23 through June 29, this year's forty-four attendees learned to be active and knowledgeable citizens by learning about the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the federal government during trips to the Capitol, Supreme Court, and National Archives. Students also visited NRA Headquarters, the National Museum of American History, Marine Corps Base Quantico, and several monuments and memorials in the Washington, D.C. area. Since the program's creation in 1996, more than $446,000 in scholarships have been awarded.

The following students received scholarships based on their performance in debates and seminars conducted over the course of the week:

$3,000 – Tyler Clancy, Beaufort, South Carolina
$3,000 – Jonathan Moore, Nicholasville, Kentucky
$2,000 – Emma McCormick, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
$2,000 – Brad Petras, Slidell, Louisiana
$2,000 – Ian Quimby, Idleyld Park, Oregon
$1,000 – Victoria Hrach, Smithton, Pennsylvania
$1,000 – Savannah Rigby – Titus, Alabama
$1,000 – Anna Schale, Tulsa, Oklahoma
$1,000 – Dillon Tidmore, Albuquerque, New Mexico

A second round of $15,000 in college scholarships will be available through the Y.E.S. Grand Scholarship project. After returning home, Y.E.S. students interested in competing are given nine months to introduce NRA programs like Women On Target, Friends of NRA and the Eddie Eagle GunSafe® Program into their communities and create a portfolio documenting the process. Funding for Y.E.S. and the Y.E.S. Grand Scholarship is provided by The NRA Foundation.
