The NRA Youth Hunter Education Challenge's (YHEC) National Championship is still open for registration for both competitors and volunteers—and it's an opportunity that you and your kids don't want to miss. This July 23-28, the "world championship" for junior hunters will not only let kids compete for some really cool prizes, it will also offer a terrific opportunity for you and your family to spend some time in the outdoors in one of the most beautiful places in America, NRA's Whittington Center.

For the last 32 years, NRA's Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) has provided a fun way for kids 18 and under to improve their hunting, marksmanship and safety skills. Through its simulated hunting situations, live-fire exercises, educational and responsibility events, YHEC helps build upon skills learned in basic hunter education courses and encourages safer, lifelong hunting habits. Since its inaugural national event, YHEC has reached over 1.2 million participants...that's 1.2 million hunters and shooters who entered their sports with the skills and knowledge they need to be safe and ethical in the field and on the range. Introducing these skills to the generations to come is vital to the continued life of the sports we hold dear.

Who is eligible to participate? Juniors 18 years old and under who have completed a hunter safety course and competed at a YHEC state-level event (if your state offers one) can register for the YHEC National Championship; registration is $695.

Click here to register to compete. If you'd like to explore getting some help defraying those fees, please contact your state program...some states cover registration fees for all National YHEC participants or for the top participants from the state event.

Who is eligible to volunteer? Anyone over the age of 18 with strong hunting and firearm knowledge may apply. Click here to help bring safe and ethical hunting skills to this year's competitors.
