A day for turkey, side dishes and your favorite dessert, others for shopping, more shopping and online shopping, and now one for giving back. #GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to all kinds of charities that all have one common factor: improving communities. Through social media and the international platform provided by #GivingTuesday, individuals, families, businesses, nonprofits and corporations can help encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to a charity that’s invaluable to them.

And now The NRA Foundation and the NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund are participating in #GivingTuesday! When individuals give and then share their support for these charities, they’re not only protecting our Right to Bear Arms but encouraging their friends and families to do the same. “The NRA Foundation and Civil Rights Defense Fund are excited to participate in #GivingTuesday, an initiative for individuals to show their support for their favorite charities,” said William Dailey, Chairman of the NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund. “It’s all about freedom!”

The NRA Foundation, established in 1990, raises contributions that support a wide range of firearm-related public interest activities of not only the National Rifle Association but other pro-Second Amendment organizations. The whole purpose of the NRA Foundation is to promote firearms and hunting safety, to enhance marksmanships skills of those participating in the shooting sports, and to educate the general public about firearms and their historic, technological and artistic context. The funds received by the Foundation benefit children, youth, women, individuals with physical disabilities, gun collectors, hunters, competitive shooters and law enforcement personnel.

The NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund, established by the NRA Board of Directors in 1978, gets involved in court cases establishing legal precedents in favor of gun owners. To do this, they provide legal and financial assistance in the courtroom (see a list of state cases the Fund is supporting here) to individuals and organizations defending their right to keep and bears arms. The Fund also supports legal research and education on firearms related issues, and eagerly discuss the meaning of the Second Amendment and nature of the right to keep and bear arms provisions in state constitutions.

To support either The NRA Foundation or the NRA the NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund (or both!), please visit www.nrafoundation.org/donate or www.nradefensefund.org/donate.aspx, then spread the word! Even though it’s not exactly word-of-mouth and more like word-of-social media, it’s an effective and powerful way to help these organizations become more well-known.
