Folds Of Honor Scholarships

Winchester Ammunition’s commitment to America’s fighting forces is legend, and the legend continues with a $100,000 pledge to a worthy charity: Folds of Honor. Folds of Honor began as the brainchild of Lt. Col. Dan Rooney, an F-16 fighter pilot who had temporarily hung up his wings to ride as a passenger on a flight home from his second tour of duty in Iraq.

As he landed, the pilot announced they carried the remains of Corporal Brock Bucklin on board. Lt. Col. Rooney watched as Corporal Bucklin’s twin brother walked somberly alongside the flag-covered casket to meet his family on the tarmac. Among them was the deceased Corporal’s young son, Jacob. Since that night, Lt Col Rooney has committed his life to rallying patriotic Americans and meeting sacrifice with hope.

Today, Winchester’s helping to bankroll this hope, which takes the form of educational scholarships for the spouses and children of fallen or disabled service members of the U.S. armed forces. This $100K pledge is actually Winchester’s third donation to the organization. It’s financed in part through a portion of the sales of Winchester’s USA VALOR collection of ammunition, which pays tribute to our military and first-responders. In 2023, more than 15 million rounds of USA VALOR ammunition have been sold in boxes featuring the Folds of Honor logo in support of their mission.

"Winchester has supported the U.S. military for more than 100 years by providing what the U.S. Warfighter needs to succeed on the battlefield," said Winchester President Brett Flaugher. "We are grateful to extend that support to the Folds of Honor mission, and to the spouses and children of those service members that have sacrificed all for our country."
