Savage 110 Magpul Scout Lede

Savage Arms' flagship rifle, the 110, is getting the "scout" treatment for 2024! What's a Scout Rifle? Well, its originator was the legendary Jeff Cooper (who founded Gunsite Academy). He felt that "a Scout Rifle should be chambered for a cartridge available en masse, worldwide, and capable of launching a 150-grain bullet at 2,700 fps ... He also felt that a Scout Rifle should ideally weigh about 6.5 pounds, and no more than 7.5 pounds, including the optical sight and shooting sling. He was a firm proponent of back-up iron sights because of his distrust of optics."

That brings us to today! We've just learned that Savage is launching its new 110 Magpul Scout. This rifle features an updated iron sight system, full length extended Picatinny rail and Magpul Hunter Stock. The 110 Magpul Scout is engineered to outperform in any environment--whether it's hunting, target shooting or tactical applications.

The 110 Magpul Scout checks all of Cooper's boxes for sighting (and then some). With a 16½ inch matte-black button-rifled barrel, muzzle brake and adjustable iron sights, the gun also features integrated and removable rear peep sights. It also boasts a fully adjustable front sight post for elevation, utilizing standard AR-15 style front sight posts. Of course, it also has M-LOK slots on the forend sides and bottom for various mounting options.

Magpul rifle stocks are well known for exceptional grip that produces rapid and accurate target acquisition. The 110 Magpul Scout and its Magpul Hunter Stock with aluminum bedding block provides the user with consistent and long-lasting performance across shooting conditions and a fully adjustable length of pull (13-15”). The Savage Arms 110 Magpul Scout offers the flexibility and durability that’s needed to excel in any shooting scenario– allowing both seasoned and novice shooters to deliver top results.

As with all 110s, shooters can expect Savage's exceptional AccuTrigger, which is adjustable for 1.5-4 lb. pull weight. There's a three-position tang safety. As of right now, Black, FDE, right- or left-hand configurations are all available. There are three available calibers: .308 Win., 6.5 Creedmoor and .450 Bushmaster.

“We’re thrilled to unveil this latest innovation of the Savage Arms lineup,” said Beth Shimanski, Director of Marketing at Savage Arms. “The 110 Magpul Scout is designed to embody versatility and precision. It’s the firearm of choice for shooters that are looking for adaptability while maintaining top of the line accuracy and precision.” MSRP $1,099; SavageArms.com.
