Sitka Hyperdown

For years, SITKA Gear has been the go-to for savvy hunters, especially those who battle the coldest, toughest hunting conditions. Today, we've learned about SITKA's new-for-2024 HyperDown Collection. Currently consisting of a coat, matching pants and a sleeping bag, this new collection was tested rigorously in some of the world's most frigid and unforgiving environments: the Canadian Rockies, the Alaskan Chugach mountain range and the famous GORE labs. If your adventures are taking you somewhere cold and remote, you need lightweight, rugged and super-warm gear ... your life may depend on it!

HyperDown filling is a cutting-edge 800-fill PrimaLoft Gold down blend, and it's the basis on which this new collection was built. In fact, SITKA's John Barklow states that this is the warmest static insulation that SITKA makes (and that is really saying something).

"This pioneering insulation blurs the lines between the lightweight packability and warmth of down and the wet weather performance of synthetic insulation," continues Barklow. "When faced with dynamic late-season weather conditions, HyperDown is your bunker from the elements allowing you to focus on your pursuit."

These garments were specifically engineered with low temperatures and high altitudes in mind for a reason. Both conditions represent a one-two punch that can be quite dangerous, since altitude sickness can cut your energy levels even as the wind and cold put you at risk for frostbite and hypothermia. That's why HyperDown's innovative insulation blend is wrapped in a durable ripstop face fabric, ensuring further protection during hunts in rough terrain.

The HyperDown Jacket and matching pants are built to be light and packable for ounce-counting, big-game hunters on their coldest hunts. Their insulation resists clumping in wet conditions to maintain warmth when hunters need it most. A 27D ripstop face fabric makes the HyperDown Jacket as tough as any conditions in which it may be used, and it is cut to fit over other layers and optics harness for rapid deployment.

And when you bed down for the night, the Hyperdown 15 Sleeping Bag is the warmest sleeping bag SITKA has ever made. Best-in-class Allied Down 900-fill goose down is the benchmark for warmth-to-weight and packability, while the ExpeDRY treatment provides wet-weather performance that you'd normally expect from synthetics. The 15-degree bag accommodates additional layers in the clothing system when the mercury plummets. Thoughtfully placed zippers free arms to enable glassing or cooking so you can essentially use it as a full-body coat when you don't need to walk. How cool ...uh, warm...is that? Find yours here!
