The National Rifle Association is proud to announce the three winners of our annual Outstanding Achievement Youth Award (OAYA)! Each year, your NRA awards youth who participate in the shooting sports with this award, which is a cash payout of $5,000 for first place, $3,000 for second place, and $2,000 for third place.
Our first-place winner, Cash Colleton, began his journey with a trip to the range with his Scouting troop. Initially, Cash was baffled at how hard it was to hit the target that first day on the range, but that did not stop him from pushing for more. He was fascinated by the discipline and precision required to hit the target.
From that first day Cash was intrigued and wanted to improve, so he practiced and improved and started entering competitions. On his journey he learned how the shooting sports related to other things in his life; the discipline he learned on the range also served him well in school. More importantly, he learned that failure is a stepping-stone to success. It is obvious that our 2025 winner has learned many lessons that will help him with future plans and be successful.
This year's second place goes to Nichole Hood of Asland, Penn. Third place winner is Jack Ogoreuc of Grove City, Penn. Congratulations to all!
Do you know an outstanding youth who might be interested in competing for this award? The annual deadline is May 1st of each year. For more information about the program visit our website: https://oaya.nra.org/
