Just in time for hunting season, Ruger has announced their latest bolt-action series of rifles: the Hawkeye Hunter, based on the popular Hawkeye Standard. Chambered in four of the most popular hunting calibers--6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win., .30-06 Spr. and .300 Win. Mag.--the Hawkeye Hunter was created to offer reliability, good looks and shooter comfort. With its beautiful American walnut stock, shooters might expect that this bolt-action beauty would offer the sort of significant recoil that traditional hunting rifles chambered in hard-hitting calibers often deliver. To counter that, Ruger has introduced a removable Ruger radial-port muzzle brake for the .300 Win. Mag. chambering.

The ergonomic and practical features of the Hawkeye Hunter don't stop there. The rifle comes outfitted with the light and crisp Ruger LC6 trigger and also features a hinged, solid-steel floorplate for easy unloading without having to chamber each cartridge. The built-in safety features you've come to expect are present in spades: The Hawkeye Hunter features a three-position safety, which allows the shooter to lock the bolt or to load and unload the rifle with the safety engaged. The Hunter also comes paired with a factory-installed 20 MOA Picatinny rail and threaded barrel, so you can mount a suppressor to further reduce recoil and report.

The Hunter also boasts the traditional Hawkeye, Mauser-type controlled feeding and powerful claw extractor. The stock comes equipped with standard sling swivel studs and a highly effective recoil pad. Each rifle features an engraved Ruger logo and patented latch that is flush with the trigger guard to avoid accidental dumping of cartridges.
