Each year since 2009, the National Rifle Association’s Youth Programs Division has partnered with select youth organizations and outstanding young shooters as part of the NRA National Youth Shooting Sports Ambassadors program Presented by Brownells. Brielle Smith, our Ambassador from Marine Corps' JROTC, recently reviewed the Blaser Intuition F16 Sporting Model Shotgun. Here are her thoughts!

At the 2018 SHOT Show event in Las Vegas, Nevada, the 2018 National Rifle Association Ambassadors, including myself, had the pleasure of meeting several representatives with the German Blaser company. Upon further discussion, expressing my interest in the firearms, one of the representatives introduced me to the new Blaser Intuition F16 Sporting Model Shotgun. They advised me that this shotgun was built to cater to smaller body types, especially females, making this a more versatile shotgun. I was thrilled to learn t that Blaser would let me have the honor of reviewing this gorgeous shotgun.

There was a demo model of the shotgun sent to me to review. Upon receiving the shotgun, I eagerly assembled it and further inspected it. First impressions: This shotgun was made exceptionally well. It was easy to assemble and get used to. The wood is nothing too fancy, but it’s classic and elegant. The stock is shorter to fit smaller arms, and the cheek rest is also raised slightly higher to fit females who, on average, have longer necks than males. Due to the shorter stock, the trigger is closer to the pistol grip which shortens the distance between the trigger and end of the butt plate (length of pull). The shotgun is about 8 pounds; however, the F16 has the option to add additional weight. At the end of the muzzle there are interchangeable chokes for shooting at different distances.

I couldn’t wait to take this gorgeous shotgun to the shooting range. As a smaller female, the Blaser Intuition F16 shotgun fit me very well. With each shot, it was very apparent that the adjustments made to the stock fit very nicely. The short length of pull made a huge difference; my finger was actually able to fit around the trigger, which made me feel much more in control of the firearm. The switch to go from the upper barrel to the lower barrel is in the trigger guard, making it very easy to access and change while shooting. The bright red sight at the end of the barrel makes it easy to aim.

You can tell how much effort and thought has gone into the engineering and manufacturing of this shotgun. The Blaser Intuition F16 Shotgun Sporting Model has a lot of potential to draw more women to the sport.
