The National Rifle Association is excited to announce the 2016 dates for its NRA Outdoors Survival School, sponsored by SIG Sauer. The school is three days, two nights immersed in critical skills teaching and scenarios necessary for survival situations. The diverse curriculum of courses is taught by the best-of-the-best—NRA has brought in senior level US military special operations personnel, wilderness plant experts and top firearm instructors with years of experience.
The school will be held at the Peacemaker National Training Center in Glengarry, West Virginia; 60 miles from Washington, D.C. The breathtaking views and beautiful lands of West Virginia are such a treat, but its terrain is perfect to simulate survival situations. High elevations, unpredictable weather, and plenty of feral animals are where it gets the state slogan of “Wild and Wonderful”.
The Survival School will consist of the following courses:
- Survival and Wilderness Skills Mindset
- Emergency Casualty Care
- Water Procurement and Purification
- Fire Building Skills and Techniques
- Shelter Building
- Use of Firearms for Food Procurement and Defense
- Scavenging and Resourcefulness
- Practical Survival Skills: Tests and Scenarios
The NRA Outdoors Survival School only admits 16 students per session, so be sure to register soon.
Tents, food, water and eating utensils will be provided for the three days and two nights, but be sure to bring a sleeping bag and review the list of suggested gear to bring.
