One of the chief reasons that Savage Arms is such a byword among hunters and shooters is the company’s dedication to providing exquisitely accurate rifles at affordable prices. Another of the main reasons for Savage’s success with demanding American shooters is the company’s refusal to rest on its laurels. The year 2022 marks Savage’s debut of its all-new Impulse Elite Precision rifle, the company’s intuitive straight-pull bolt-action gun … and it’s already risen to the top of the list of hot new releases for 2022.

What’s all the hype about straight-pull bolt guns? Essentially, they offer a much faster shot-to-shot recovery time than traditional bolt-action guns. However, they have a reputation for being very pricey—and that’s a reputation Savage aims to puncture just as surely as the Impulse punctures bullseyes. As our friends at American Hunter noted when the original Impulse was released, “The magic of the Impulse centers around two factors: the unique action (no surprise there), and how well Savage has incorporated it into its standard AccuTrigger/AccuStock combination. This fusion contributes not only to the rifle’s easy shootability, but to its incredibly reasonable price point.”

The Impulse Elite boasts that same intuitive straight-pull action, bedded in an Adjustable Core Competition chassis from Modular Driven Technologies (MDT). With a full-length ARCA rail, the Impulse Elite Precision can be customized for individual balance preferences and will provide the impeccable accuracy that has come to define Savage’s Precision rifles. Its AccuTrigger can be adjusted at home for a trigger pull weight of anywhere from 4 pounds to a nearly telekinetic 1.5 pounds.

The Savage Impulse Elite Precision also boasts a threaded muzzle for muzzle devices, a matte black aluminum receiver with an integrated 20-MOA rail and an ambidextrous, multi-positional bolt handle. At the time of this writing, Savage’s list of chamberings includes .308 Win., 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, 6mm Creedmoor, 338 Lapua Magnum, .300 Win. Mag. and .300 PRC. MSRPs are $2,649 to $2,849 … which is pennies on the dollar to traditional, European-made straight-pull precision rifles.

“The Elite Precision has changed the way Savage shooters think about long-range capability,” said Jessica Treglia, Senior Brand Manager for Savage Arms. “The addition of the Impulse straight-pull action is going to add a new element of speed to an already efficient rifle. When split times are an important aspect of the competition, Impulse Elite Precision will be a game-changer.” SavageArms.com
