Jay sees his brand new Henry Lever Action .22 rifle for the first time. It was a gift for his 10th birthday from his parents, Paul Rummel and Ben West. “He was so happy to get this gift and to be part of a proud family of riflemen,” Paul said in an email to NRA Publications. “His look of surprise is classic.” Paul and his partner Ben West are proud gun owners and are committed to protecting the Second Amendment. Ben is running for Congress in Oregon and a member of the NRA.
That adorable and happy face says it all: Mom and Dad got the best Christmas gift…ever! Garrett Henry Crothamel is 7 months old and holding his very own Henry Golden Boy .17 HMR rifle. Of course, it's going to be a long time before he gets to use it! “We plan to get it engraved with his initials and birth date,” said Garrett’s parents. “Our wish is for the rifle to be in our family for generations.” Melissa and Dustin Crothamel are proud Americans, have both served in the United States Marine Corps and are unabashed gun owners.
Thank you for your service to our country, Melissa and Dustin, and we can’t wait for Garrett to grow up and become an expert rifleman!
It’s a memorable day when a kid gets their first gun, and not just for the kid but their parents as well. That gun will likely stay with the child their whole life, no matter how many more they get. It will be the gun that gets them into hunting or onto the school rifle team. It could be a lifelong cherished gift that’s passed on for generations, or it could become the topic of an interview when that child becomes the next Julie Golob. Who knows?
Thank you to the all the families for sharing these wonderfully memorable moments and best of luck to all of you!
