When Savage Arms uses the phrase "Ultralite Elite," the company really means it. It's normal for hunting rifles to weigh in the 7-10 lb. range, depending on stock materials and barrel length. But the Savage 110 Ultralite Elite weighs in at a truly remarkable 5 lbs., 12.8 ozs unloaded. Although the heart of the Ultralite Elite--Savage's 110 action--has been around for quite some time, it's never powered a rifle this light.

How did they do it? From cutting-edge materials to thoughtful design tweaks, Savage has trimmed every single ounce possible out of this dedicated hunting rig ... and they've done it without cutting features. The rifle features a PROOF Research carbon-fiber-wrapped stainless-steel barrel with a threaded muzzle (should you wish to attach a suppressor), as well as an Omniport radial muzzle brake.

You'll notice that it also looks a little different from traditional bolt guns. The stock has an integrated folding mechanism, so you can fold it down for easy carry and transport. It also boasts an AR-style pistol grip, as well as a magazine well that's compatible with all AICS-pattern detachable box magazines. But don't be fooled; this rifle is chambered in almost every popular hunting caliber out there and functions with exactly the same smooth yet sturdy Savage speed we shooters know and love.
In this great video from our friends at American Rifleman, you'll learn more about the rifle, and see how the Ultralite Elite behaves on the range. For more, visit SavageArms.com
