The mad rush to hunt "the rut" during rifle season may be over, but the deer hunting isn't. Many parts of the country still allow deer hunting with "primitive weapons" like archery, muzzleloaders and flintlocks. Thing is, the deer who got through rifle season did so by being just a little smarter than their rut-addled peers. By December, they're well-educated and leery. That said, there are still plenty of opportunities to harvest a nice whitetail to fill your freezer (and your belly) all through the winter. In this great video from the National Deer Association, Nick Pinizzotto looks at three important keys to locating and killing a late-season deer.
