ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
The statistics say that the overwhelming majority of concealed-carriers will never need more ammunition than they already had loaded in their defensive firearm. Trouble is, sometimes real life doesn't know (or care) what the statistics say.
