As you read your favorite NRA publications, you'll notice that nobody seems willing to tell you which concealed-carry method is "best," and that's because there's no real "top" method. There's only the one that works best for you and your circumstances. All CCW methods are trade-offs between the size of the gun you can realistically carry, that gun's stopping power, your ability to deploy that firearm should you need to, where you intend to carry ... what you're willing to tolerate in exchange for the benefit you seek will be different for everyone.

That brings us to today's CCW minute! In the world of concealed carry (CCW) terminology, "pocket carry" is exactly what it sounds like: the practice of concealing your handgun in your pocket. That's different from most other carry methods, which depend upon a belt or sling to keep the firearm in place. Pocket carry simply requires a firearm, a holster and a pocket. As Shooting Illustrated's Kevin Creighton points out in this 60-second video, pocket carry has both pros and cons. Deciding what pros outweigh which cons is entirely up to you ... we're just giving you all the facts you need to decide.
