The tiny little pocket pistol being swallowed up by the hands of American Rifleman's Christopher Olsen in the above photo, the Kel-Tec P3AT, has been on the market for 15 years. That's practically granddaddy status in today's fast-paced gun market, so why is it an NRA American Rifleman Gun of the Week? Well, since its introduction in 2003, the P3AT has revolutionized the concealed-carry handgun market with this dainty, no-frills little semi-automatic handgun that easily fits into even the most slim-cut clothing for easy on-body CCW. Weighing in at just a mouse hair over half a pound, and offering a 2.7-inch barrel and a six-round magazine capacity, the P3AT has no external safeties to slow down the armed citizen's response should it become necessary to draw this self-defense pistol. And at a mere $338, this is an option for even the tightest budgets. In this video, Olsen demonstrates how to take down and reassemble the P3AT while describing just what it is about this little gun that has assured its popularity for the last 15 years...and no doubt another 15 to come.
