Springfield Armory's recent announcement of their brand-new AR-15, the Saint, took the shooting world by storm. For over a decade, the AR-15 platform has been the fastest-selling and most popular rifle among Americans. This is in part due to the rifle's versatility, its attraction to people of all sizes, genders and walks of life, as well as its "cool" appearance. So it was something of a mystery as to why venerable gun manufacturer Springfield hadn't debuted their own version, especially given their strong representation in the self-defense pistol market. Turns out, Springfield was simply following their tried-and-true formula of only releasing a product when it has exceeded their exacting standards for reliability and usability—and that's exactly what we've found in the Saint. Best of all, Springfield has continued their tradition of offering guns that give you all the features you'd expect from a high-end product while keeping the price budget-friendly. The Saint is expected to retail in the $900 area, a real boon for frugal consumers. In this video, American Rifleman's Joe Kurtenbach demonstrates uniquely practical and user-friendly features he's enjoyed while sending thousands of rounds downrange with the Saint.
