Technically, the Mossberg Nightstick isn't a shotgun. Instead, it's simply classified as a firearm, although it does use shotshell ammunition. With its short barrel and nonexistent stock, it can't really be shot from the shoulder the way you would with a real shotgun. It's common for people with no firearms experience to assume that it should be fired from the hip. To quote Shooting Illustrated's Kevin Creighton, "WRONG!" We never want to do unsighted fire.

So how should someone who wishes to use a Mossberg 590 Nightstick for home defense operate it? What accessories might you find useful? In this minute-long (okay, it's technically 79 seconds) video, Creighton teaches the simple trick that makes this firearm usable and effective.
