They called it "Bloody Omaha." A simple stretch of rocky coastline in occupied France's Normandy area, it had been heavily fortified by the Germans ... but not heavily enough. The Axis had been fooled into believing that American forces would land elsewhere, and it was that element of surprise that helped lead U.S. troops to a bloody, hard-fought victory on the beach we named Omaha. In this wonderful video from our friends at American Rifleman TV, you'll learn a new appreciation for the gumption and perseverance of American soldiers in the defense of freedom. It's a fitting tribute to the 80th anniversary of D-Day--the day Americans hallowed the coast of France with their blood, and began to turn the tide of World War II.
