Gun Registries? Why This Writer Objects

If you're an NRA member and a gun owner, chances are quite good that you've read an article or editorial in the "mainstream media" lately that had you seeing red. Sometimes, there's so much wrong with an article that you almost don't even know where to start. One of the things that's wonderful about online media is that it gives one the opportunity to engage in what has informally come to be known as "fisking." Fisking, explains Wikipedia, "is a blogosphere slang describing a point-by-point criticism that highlights perceived errors, or disputes the analysis in a statement, article or essay." This is precisely what NRA Blog's own Emily Rupertus has done to a recent Baltimore Sun piece advocating that Maryland institute “a gun owner registry available to the public online — something like those for sex offenders.”

If you're in the mood to see that concept dissected quite neatly by Rupertus, click here!
