The Colt's Manufacturing Detective Special Revolver was in continuous production from 1927 through the 1990s, establishing itself as one of the most easily recognizable guns in circulation. Originally crafted as a refinement to the Colt Police Positive, this handgun was quickly adopted by police agencies and Hollywood alike. For a time, it seemed that no film noir worth its weight in world-weary gumshoes was without a Detective Special Revolver (or two).
