Defend The Second Lede

We can't wait to see you at the 2024 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Dallas, Texas ... and neither can the rest of your NRA family. In fact, just like last year, we think your smiling face is the best way to deck the halls of the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center! It's an opportunity to demonstrate to the world who the NRA is: our members, who come from all walks of life and represent every race, color and creed in America. We call it our "Defend the 2nd" program, and it's our salute to the millions of NRA members that live by this credo, day in and day out.

Example of a great Defend the 2nd photo

We will be displaying large scale graphics throughout the 2024 Annual Meetings & Exhibits that highlight various NRA members from across the globe. If you’d like your image to be considered for display, please submit your high quality photo(s), and join us in celebrating the millions of patriots who support the NRA and defend the Second Amendment. If selected, your image will be prominently displayed in Dallas for your fellow NRA members and patriots to see.

Let's show the world that we are united by our unwavering commitment and common belief that the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is an inalienable right that we protect and defend. Here's how to submit a photo that will best display that you, too, are the NRA:

First things first, and as always, that's gun safety. If your subject is holding a firearm in your photo, please ensure safety is demonstrated. Avoid putting your finger on the trigger, pointing the firearm towards the camera, or holding the firearm in an unsafe manner.

Second, make sure that your camera is set to take high-resolution photos, 300 dpi (dots-per-inch) or higher. Lower-resolution photos will become grainy, making it so we can't use them in a large format.

Third, make sure your subject is an NRA member. The photo must clearly show their face and chest area, and it's best if you can include space on all sides. Please avoid hats, clothing and accessories featuring brand names, sports teams or other recognizable logos or symbols. Speaking of hats, if your model is wearing one, have them face into a light source so the hat won't shadow their face.

Fourth, ensure that the image is well-lit, with the subject clearly in focus. Avoid cluttered or busy backgrounds in your photo. For best results, use a depth of field that allows you to focus primarily on the subject--this will make the background soft or blurry, and that's fine.

Please submit images in jpg, jpeg, png, or tiff file format. Do not submit images/jpg files in a word document or PDF file. The photo submission form is here!
