Video: Know Your Gun Safety Rules

Knowing the rules of gun safety is of paramount importance. You already know the “Big Three”: 1. ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction; 2. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot; 3. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use. There are other gun safety rules that you’ll need to know. In this video, we show you what they are.

Along with encouraging budding shooters to enroll with local NRA Certified Instructors for expert training, mentors can provide actual places to shoot that are safe and welcoming, help new shooters understand firearm safety, handling and range protocol, and help them locate nearby ranges. NRAPublications.org/mentor has a free digital copy of the Guide for New Shooters which provides useful info about range rules, gun safety, shooting tips, gun cleaning and storage. While at the website, mentors and other participants can enter the NRA Mentor Sweepstakes for the chance to win valuable prizes.
