Getting started in the shooting sports and learning outdoorsmanship can be intimidating for a beginner; even more so if said beginner is a woman. It can be tough to relax and learn new skills when you're surrounded by people who know more than you do. NRA Women's Programs has a solution for this dilemma: The Women's Wilderness Escape. Held twice a year, the Escape allows women 18 and up the chance to discover what the shooting sports have to offer while in the company of other women just like themselves...no experience necessary.

This year, the Escape will be held June 5 - 8 at the Seven Springs Resort in Champion, Pennsylvania, and September 19 - 26 at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, New Mexico. Attendees will enjoy a wide array of shooting sports activities as well as hunting and outdoor-related activities in some of America's most beautiful settings.

The Seven Springs Resort, set in Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands, offers fine dining, a spa and gorgeous accommodations, which attendees can enjoy when not learning outdoor skills from top-notch instructors. The fee for this Wilderness Escape is $995, which includes meals, lodging, firearms, ammunition, targets, classes, instruction and select resort activities.

The NRA Whittington Center, located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of New Mexico, features some of the most striking natural beauty in the United States. Attendees will have the chance to experience the wide variety of wildlife that calls the Center home-wild turkeys, elk, mule deer, antelope and even black bears-while enjoying the world-class shooting ranges. Accommodations will be in the Center's Competitor Housing Complex, and meals will be served in the on-site dining facility. The cost for this Wilderness Escape is $1,500, and includes food, housing, guns, ammunition, targets, instruction, demonstrations and adventures.
